Community with Shared Future

The international situation is changing and the evolution of a multipolar, polycentric, pluralist international system continues. China has put forward the concept of a “Community with Shared Values”. Russia shares an interest in promoting a new international order. India with its traditional interest in non-alignment also shares an interest in promoting a new international order.

Ukraine Situation

The situation in Ukraine has complex roots in World War I and before. Here are some materials that provide some background and context. The Kremlin website carries speeches by President Putin. The Russian military advance will determine future boundary as Ukraine will be partitioned if Russia is successful. It seems likely that the Russian objective is to recover historic “Novorossiya” which was conquered by Catherine the Great in the 18th century. Lenin gave Novorossiya to Ukraine in 1922.
